Faustino "Bojie" Dy III, representative of Isabela's 6th District, described as an unassuming and a good congressman, has assumed the House speakership of the 20th Congress.
His rise to become the 4th highest official in the country came against the backdrop of growing criticism of the government amid corruption allegations surrounding the billions-worth of flood control projects.
Bojie Dy's election as the new House speaker was aimed at regaining the public's trust in the institution.
But who is Bojie Dy, the man who replaced the once irreplaceable cousin of President Marcos, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez? Bojie Dy is not new to politics, although his name does not generally ring a bell to Filipinos. He has been holding different government positions consistently since 1992.
