PH to champion health equity as it assumes 78th WHA presidency

The Philippines has committed to champion health equity in the local, regional, and global landscapes as it assumed the presidency of the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) — the first time the nation has held the position since WHA's inception in 1948.

In a statement, the DOH announced that, under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Philippines is going to play a key role in shaping a more equitable and resilient global health system.

The DOH, through Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro "Ted" Herbosa, will work closely with all member states and stakeholders in the assembly to ensure equitable access to essential health services.
