PBBM already selected next PNP chief - Remulla

President Marcos has already picked the next chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla revealed on Monday, May 26, even describing him as "excellent, very qualified, very dynamic, and with a good track record.

However, Remulla remained mum on the identity of the next chief PNP, stressing that the President will come up with the announcement soon.

When pressed further by reporters for any hint, Remulla simply responded, “police siya (he’s a police officer)” drawing laughter from the onlookers at Camp Karingal.

In a press briefing, Remulla favors the next chief PNP to have a longer term in office to carry out the continuing vision in the police force.

"What occurs is the tenure of a chief PNP will only last one year or a little more than a year. We need to have a continuing vision that has a buy-in from all the PNP as the years go by," Remulla explained.
