Palace: P20/kilo of rice can be sustained until December

Malacañang said the selling of P20 per kilo of rice in Kadiwa Stores can be sustained until December this year and potentially until 2026.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the subsidy for the longer implementation of the P20 per kilo of rice will be considered in the budget.

"According to the reports given to the President, the program can be sustained up to December of this year. And maybe by the following year, 2026, it will be considered or will be included in the budget," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Friday, May 2.

The initial roll out of the program was held in Cebu on May 1. It will, however, be halted until the election is over.
