NCAP violators to receive text, e-mail notifications

Motorists who would commit traffic violations captured by artificial intelligence-capable cameras would now receive a notice of violation through a short messaging system (SMS) and electronic mail.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) launched on Monday, July 7, the SMS and email notification system for violations under the No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP).

During the launching of the “May Huli Ka” website where motorists could check if they commit violations last month, MMDA Chairman Don Artes committed to come up with more technological enhancements for NCAP such as notification, providing a digital platform to contest the violation, and evidence viewing.

Artes said the launching of the additional notification feature will be comfortable to all motorists since aside from the fact that it would be real-time notification, they would know that they committed violations even without internet or mobile data.

“We tied up with a telecom company for the real time notification of violations under NCAP through SMS,” said Artes in a press briefing.
