resident Marcos has ordered an investigation into the kidnapping and the death of Filipino-Chinese steel magnate Anson Que, Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said.

- By ARGYLL CYRUS GEDUCOS and PATRICK ELY GARCIA

Que, also known as Congyuan Guo, and his driver were reported to have been kidnapped in Bulacan on March 29 after their families received a message from the kidnappers demanding millions of dollars in ransom. Both were found dead in Sitio Udiongan, Barangay Macabud, Rodriguez, Rizal on Wednesday, April 9.

The vehicle they were last seen riding in was found abandoned in Quezon City on April 8.

According to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brig.

Gen. Jean Fajardo, signs of bruises, body injuries, and signs of strangulation were found in the victims' bodies.

In a press briefing on Thursday, April 10, the Palace Press Officer said the government will not neglect the situation.

The identities of Tan and his driver were established with the help of Movement for Restoration of Peace and Order (MRPO) chairman Teresita Ang See, who urged the public to refrain from posting the pictures of the victims.

The Filipino-Chinese business community has expressed alarm over what they called a spate of kidnapping incidents.

"The investigation into this matter continues. The government will not take it sitting down," Castro said. "The President has given instruction that everything happening here will be thoroughly investigated so that crimes of this nature in the Philippines can be eradicated or at least reduced."

PNP anti-kidnapping chief sacked

Following the kidnap-slap, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil ordered the relief of Brig. Gen.

Elmer Ragay, the director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG).

Marbil also ordered the creation of a special investigation task group (SITG) to look into all the circumstances that could lead to the identification of all those involved in the kidnap-slay of Tan and his driver Armanie Pabillo.
