March is National Women’s Month in the Philippines, with March 8 being National Women's Day.
Growing up in a society which I still deem as quite patriarchal, the role of women was never diminished or compromised. In fact, I would like to think that in Philippine society, the role of women, and the importance of the nanay and/or any type of mother figure is not only emphasized, but given utmost respect.
