Manila Bulletin
|May 14, 2025
Former athletes and sportsmen who found their way into politics got mixed results in the 2025 Philippine midterm elections.
Boxing legend and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao found himself outside the Top 12 that will earn seats in the Senate following the unofficial tally of the 80 percent of election returns as of 12 noon on Tuesday, May 13.
Pacquiao, an eight-division champion, is at 18th place with 8,405,596 votes — trailing current 12th-running Imee Marcos by a little more than 2 million votes.
