TENS of thousands of runners descended on the city in glorious sunshine yesterday for the marathon.
Some 42,000 runners made the journey from Chester Way in Old Trafford, into town and back, down to Sale and back through Stretford, Chorlton and Hulme, cheered on by more than 100,000 supporters.
