Police swoop on house 'where suspect lived'

A NEIGHBOUR has spoken of the moment dozens of armed cops swooped on a house where it is claimed the Manchester synagogue attacker Jihad Al-Shamie lived.

Officers descended on Langley Crescent - a tiny residential street in Prestwich - last night, just hours after the fatal attack in which two innocent men were killed and three seriously injured.

Counter terror police have confirmed that they believe the person responsible to be 35-year-old Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent.

Neighbour Simon Barlass, 56, said he recently saw Al-Shamie ‘bench pressing in his garden’.

Police cars started arriving on Langley Hall Road, which the pedestrianised Langley Crescent runs off, at around 4.40pm. He said six unmarked police cars and a police minibus turned up.
