Health chiefs' warning as cold weather bites

THE NHS has issued a health warning as the region is facing an amber cold weather alert for health, designated by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

The north west is facing plunging temperatures, ice and snow, as the NHS enters one of its busiest periods of the year. Now, one of the region's leading doctors is urging the public to take precautions and use services appropriately.

The amber alert is in place until noon today.
