UNITED have confirmed Casemiro will leave the club when his contract expires this summer after a request from the Brazilian international.

United made the decision a while ago that the 33-year-old’s contract wouldn't be renewed or extended and informed Casemiro that was the situation.

But with speculation over his future hitting overdrive in recent weeks, he asked the club to make their plans public in order to ‘bring external clarity’ to the situation, according to a source.

Casemiro was keen to avoid incorrect speculation that the club would offer a new contract or trigger an option.

That has become an issue in recent days, with the player holding a clause in his contract that extends his deal by a year if he starts 35 games this season.
