OBJECTIONS have been raised over green belt plans to redevelop stables into six new homes.

Abode Property Developments has asked for permission in principle for the two-storey houses at Middlewood Stables, on Lyme Road, Poynton.

Poynton Town Council has submitted a lengthy objection saying the 'inappropriate' proposals will affect the openness of the green belt.

It also raises issues of harm to the character of the nearby canal area, traffic, extra pressure on already struggling utilities and adding to existing flood problems locally.

A spokesman said: "Poynton was subject to severe flooding in 2016 and 2019.
