Where City stand as Prem League boss suggests hearing looms

The club were charged in February 2023 for breaching the league’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules during a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018. City strongly deny these charges and an independent commission is set to review the case.

In the meantime, both Nottingham Forest and Everton have been charged for breaching the league’s FFP rules. Forest were docked four points while Everton were initially deducted 10 before it was reduced to six on appeal. The Toffees were charged for a second time, and received a further two-point deduction.

While City are still waiting for a hearing, Premier League chief Richard Masters revealed on Friday that it will take place in the ‘near future.’

With that said, M.E.N. Sport has taken a look at everything we know so far...

■ WHEN WERE CITY CHARGED?

City were charged in February 2023 due to historical accusations that they had violated the league’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules from 2009 until 2018.
