McCarthy: 'Other than Pep there's not much better than Erik'

FORMER Manchester United first-team coach Benni McCarthy has suggested only Pep Guardiola would be capable of transforming the club's fortunes, issuing a strong defence of Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag is under mounting pressure at Old Trafford after overseeing a run of five games without a victory prior to the international break. Last Sunday's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa also marked a third successive league game without a goal.

However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News on Friday, Ten Hag is understood to have been granted a stay of execution and is poised to take charge of next Saturday's clash with Brentford.
