Official unveiling in Queen's Park of Covid-19 memorial

KEY workers including representatives of the NHS gathered with members of the community to mark the official unveiling of the Hope Bell in Queen's Park in Loughborough.

The structure is a tribute to the NHS, key workers and serves as a reminder of how communities came together to support each other during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will also be a place for reflection to remember lost loved ones and be a beacon of hope for the future.

The ceremony took place on Friday, 4 July and included the ringing of the bell for the first time.

The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Colin Hamilton and speeches were made by leader of Charnwood Borough Council, Cllr Jewel Miah; Loughborough MP, Dr Jeevun Sandher; Dr Gang Xu, deputy medical director at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust; Paula Clark, chair of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board; and charity director of John Storer House, Karen Frostick.
