AS DANA, THE PRETERNATURALLY COOL-HEADED charge nurse of a Pittsburgh emergency room, Katherine LaNasa swiftly won over viewers of HBO Max medical drama "The Pitt." And Emmy voters weren't far behind, nominating the veteran character actor for supporting actress in a drama series. The Envelope video podcast recently caught up with LaNasa during a break from filming Season 2 to discuss how she's processing her nomination, the real-life nurses that inspired her performance and more.
You wrote a really lovely and touching essay for Women's Health magazine about how this role was a love letter to the nurses who cared for you during your breast cancer treatment. Talk to me a little about how that formed or shaped what you brought to Dana.
