Man 'lured' woman to church and tried to rape her

AN "INCREDIBLY dangerous" sex offender who attacked and abused two different women has been jailed for 12 years.

Geoffrey Jones sexually assaulted and tried to rape his first victim on a night out in Swansea, then subjected his second victim to a series of rapes.

Sending Jones to prison, a judge at Swansea Crown Court said it was a pity the defendant had not admitted his guilt but had instead put his victims through the ordeal of a trial.

He said Jones had "imposed his will" on his victims, adding that even after hearing all the evidence in the case he still found it difficult to completely understand the defendant.

The court heard the first set of offences happened in 2015 during a night out in Swansea city centre when Jones "effectively lured" his victim to a quiet spot near St Mary's Church and sexually assaulted and tried to rape her.
