Celebrating the church's new community

THIS Sunday the Christian church celebrates the festival of Pentecost when the community of the church was born.

Following the resurrection of Jesus, the early Christians met together and shared everything they had. By following his example and teachings, they loved and cared for each other to such an extent that their fellow citizens declared: “See how these Christians love one another!”

Empowered by the coming of the Holy Spirit, that love overflowed into a dark and often hostile world and many to this day have come to faith in Jesus by the experience of God's love being shared through the worship and witness of the church.
