Rights hearing set for Callum's Morrell title fight

THE WBO have scheduled a purse bid hearing for next week to determine the promotional rights for Callum Smith's ‘interim’ light-heavyweight title fight against David Morrell.

It was confirmed back in August that Smith had been ordered to defend his WBO ‘interim’ light-heavyweight title against Morrell.

However, both Matchroom Boxing, who represent Smith, and Warriors Boxing, who promote Morrell, failed to agree a deal for the 175-pound fight by last Friday’s deadline.

As a result, both companies have been informed by the WBO that the purse bid hearing will take place next Tuesday, November 25, at their headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

It is being claimed that the minimum accepted bid is $300,000, from which the winning bidder is required to submit a 20 percent deposit.
