LEAGUE SUSPENDED OVER INCIDENTS DURING GAMES

- By JAMIE GREER

A JUNIOR football league has suspended all of its matches for two weeks following reports of abuse and fighting at games.

On Wednesday, parents in Wirral began sharing posts claiming that the Eastham and District Junior and Mini Soccer League had made the decision after repeated incidents of antisocial behaviour and assaults.

One parent wrote on a local Facebook group: "So, all Eastham and District fixtures cancelled for next two Saturdays because of ongoing abuse and kids getting beat up in games.

"It's kids footy! Sort yourselves out or don't bother turning up to games."

A message from Bromborough and Eastham Junior Football Club confirmed the league had been suspended, saying a "small minority" were behind the recent trouble.

The club's post on Facebook said: "Bromborough and Eastham JFC fully supports the decision made by the Eastham and District Junior and Mini Soccer League to suspend fixtures on Saturday, October 25, and Saturday November 1, 2025.
