Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort

WHENEVER people talk about visiting Morocco, they focus on Marrakech and the madness of the medinas, but if you're looking to sample its delights without the mayhem, then look no further than the Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort.

About 20 miles south of Casablanca, with 500 rooms set in 250 acres of land and a four-mile private beach, this resort is a city in itself. It even has an 18-hole golf course designed by Gary Player, as well as Morocco's largest casino.

My room is a stunning ocean-view suite, with a king-sized bed, a huge en-suite with both bath and shower, and deliciously fluffy robes and slippers.

Back in the saddle

Admitting to a sleepless night in a hugely comfortable bed while listening to the sound of the sea doesn’t sound like the best review of any hotel, but my insomnia is down to excitement - Mazagan has promised to help me fulfil a childhood dream.
