INTERIM BOSS DELIGHTED AFTER AWAY WIN
TRANMERE Rovers interim manager Andy Crosby spoke proudly of his team's efforts on Saturday, as they rounded off the 2024-25 League Two season with a resounding 4-1 away win at Newport County.
Shane McLoughlin's close range finish midway through the first half handed Newport a deserved lead, before Jake Garrett's deflected strike levelled the scores just before the interval.
Further efforts from Kristian Dennis, Omari Patrick and substitute Josh Davison confirmed a convincing final day victory against 10-man County, with Crosby highlighting the work ethic of his group.
He said: "I think we've shown the effort, commitment and togetherness of the group over the past 13 games, and achieving our goal last week was always going to play a part in our performance today.
"We were quite sluggish to start off with and we've had a different week, as we enjoyed staying in the division last week, but the response of the players in the second half is absolutely massive credit to every single one of them.
"To go for the final 45 minutes of the season and the 46th game, to produce the effort and quality that they did, I couldn't be prouder of all of them." As can often be the case in dead rubber end of season matches, Rovers started the match slowly, misplacing numerous passes in midfield areas and losing out in 50-50 duels.
