Forced to climb down over hasty fit of peak

Liverpool Echo

February 11, 2026

A FURTHER hour of this not quite edge-of-your-seat TV - hosted by the man from, rather aptly, Tipping Point - in which a bunch of mostly quite annoying individuals are trying to climb a mountain, united by the prospect of winning lots of money but squabbling like infants who'd blow the lot on Haribo if they did.

Forced to climb down over hasty fit of peak

I find this a very odd show - the way it delights in winding us up.

Step one of that process, which began last night, was to allocate the most airtime to those we were bound to find irritating: the whiny mummy's girl, the brusque pub landlady, the bossy-boots fitness instructor, the bragging alpha-male and the self-satisfied tour guide.

Step two was to reinforce our unfavourable opinion of these people by showing us how they were annoying other contestants.
