Fleetwood caddie Finnis unlikely Ryder Cup star

A golf caddie from Merseyside became one of the unlikely stars of this year’s Ryder Cup. Europe saw off a US fightback to claim a 15-13 victory on Sunday in New York.

Southport’s Tommy Fleetwood played a major part in Europe's victory, going 4-0 through the first four sessions. Tensions were high during the tournament, especially on the second day. Rory Mcllroy told a group of US fans to “Shut the f*** up” after being heckled relentlessly, while Shane Lowry got a fan ejected for their raucous behaviour.

Another flareup came during the fourballs match between Europe's Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood and the US’ Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler.
