Alexandria star and French partner's latest success
It’s six of the best for local tennis star Gordon Reid as he and partner Alfie Hewett secured their sixth straight French Open wheelchair doubles crown at Roland Garros.
The top-seeded pair had breezed through the early stages of the event to set up a final on Saturday against the duo of Tokito Oda - who had defeated Hewett in the singles final ... and his French partner Stephane Houdet.
Reid and Hewett edged a tight opening set by a single serve break to claim it 6-4, but the Oda/Houdet pairing bounced back strongly to claim the second comfortably by six games to one and set up a decisive final set ten-point tiebreak to decide the destination of the trophy.
