Watch out for rogue workmen after spike in reports

RESIDENTS have been warned about rogue traders as reports of people being scammed are coming in at the rate of nearly 10 a month.

Officials at Leicestershire County Council said residents should be on “high alert” after victims said they had been harassed, threatened and even escorted to the bank to withdraw large sums of cash.

The council warning was sparked by a rise in complaints about rogue roofers and home improvement scams.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 77 complaints relating to such incidents made to the council.
