Warning over wire bristles as dog saved by emergency op

A DOG nearly died after swallowing a tiny wire bristle that perforated his stomach.

Hendrix, a two-year-old Tibetan terrier, needed emergency surgery after the bristle from a patio weeding brush caused a life-threatening condition.

Owner Verity Glenister, from Fleckney, took Hendrix to Ash Tree Vets, in Kibworth when he started vomiting.

He was initially given anti-sickness medicine, but when his condition didn't improve, X-rays and an ultrasound scan showed the small but sharp piece of wire had perforated his stomach wall and caused peritonitis.

This is inflammation of the lining of the abdomen and can be life-threatening, the practice said.
