Murder accused 'holding nothing back' about the death of his wife
A MAN accused of murdering his wife told police he was “holding nothing back” after her body was discovered.
Richard Satchwell, formerly of Coalville, is accused of murdering his wife Tina in March 2017, in Youghal, County Cork. He denies the charge.
He was interviewed by garda after her body was found in October 2023. He had reported her missing on May 11, 2017.
The jury at Satchwell’s trial at the Central Criminal Court has been watching a police interview carried out after his wife’s remains were found.
He said he had used the belt of a dressing gown to fend off his wife after she “flew” at him with a chisel.
She went limp and fell into his arms, he said.
Probed further, Satchwell said it happened in “a flash” and his brain had no time to comprehend it.
Asked what he believed caused his wife's death, he said he thought it was the belt blocking her airways.
He claimed it happened in a matter of seconds.
