THEY ARE SET TO BE REPLACED BY TEACHING SPACES ON PLAYING FIELDS

- By HANNAH RICHARDSON

A SCHOOL is set to undergo a huge transformation with “unfit” teaching spaces to be replaced.

Five of the buildings at Castle Rock High School, in Coalville, are to be torn down as part of a government plan to refurbish education settings across the country.

They have been described as “no longer fit for modern-day teaching purposes” by the Department for Education (DfE), and are set to be replaced with a two-storey building on what are currently playing fields.

The buildings formerly belonged to King Edward VII Science and Sport College, prior to its merger with Castle Rock in 2020.
