Nine new homes could be built on a former hotel car park location

Plans have been submitted and are waiting for the green light from the council

NINE new homes could be built on a former hotel car park if plans are given the green light by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

An application has come forward to redevelop the former Station Hotel car park at Rudyard.

The building, which has also previously been known as the Railway Inn and Galleon Inn, has been converted into apartments and is now known as Lakeland Lodge. A former bowling green also remains, at a lower level to the former car park off Rudyard Road.

A previous proposal for seven affordable homes on the northern part of the site was refused permission by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council after being considered inappropriate development in the Green Belt. Concerns were also raised the development would cause harm to the conservation area and impact on surrounding trees.
