Hundreds of solar panels set to be built on Green Belt land

PLANS to install hundreds of solar panels in a field next to a hotel have been approved.

The Tawny Hotel in Consall, near Wetley Rocks, says the 300kW solar farm will produce enough renewable electricity to meet the estate’s energy needs.

Planning committee members at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council voted yesterday to approve the Tawny’s application, subject to conditions.

These conditions include a requirement to plant hedges around the solar farm to screen it from nearby properties.

The estate, which includes the hotel, wedding venue and camping pods, lies in the Green Belt.
