Union claims victory in fight over university job cuts

Planned industrial action at Lancaster University has been suspended after management agreed a halt to planned compulsory redundancies.
-
Strikes scheduled for Thursday and Friday next week, along with ongoing action short of strike, have now been called off following management's U-turn, which would see redundancies among academic staff halted until at least July next year.
University management had planned to axe more than 450 staff this academic year due to poor financial forecasts.
