The funding going to Ribbleton, rather than into the city centre, has been questioned by Preston's Business Improvement District which exists to represent city centre firms.

In a statement they described the city as 'missing out' on the £2m-a-year for the next decade which could have 'helped to revitalise priority areas of the city centre'.
