Pop-up police stations and days of action in city centre

Earlier this month Preston Police said they carried out an 'intensive day of action' in the city centre.

Sgt Tom Rettie, of the Preston Neighbourhood Policing team, said this was in response to concerns raised by the local community.

Officers-both uniformed and plain-clothed-tackled anti-social behaviour, drug-dealing and theft which they say local businesses and residents had reported in their Lancashire Talking Survey.

Two people were arrested during the day of action, one for recall to prison and another on suspicion of shoplifting.

One of the arrests was near to the former Nat West building in Fishergate which has been highlighted as being an area of concern, due to tents being pitched - which is against the PSPO rules - and anti-social behaviour taking place in and around it.
