New plan for much delayed rural bridge widening project
Lancashire Evening Post
|October 10, 2025
A delayed bridge widening scheme on a key route between Preston and Longridge is to see piling work begin from next week.
-
Work had slowed at Skew Bridge after 'unforeseen drainage issues' caused engineers to abandon their existing proposals and go back to the drawing board when early excavations dig not match the plans used.
Lancashire County Council says the piling works start from Monday as temporary traffic lights remain in place causing delays on the busy rural link route.
The £2.2m bridge widening project was due to be finished by November this year but will instead take until spring next year due to the redesigned plan.
