How golf courses have helped preserve wild habitats

The proposals in Lancashire's new Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) include a raft of work which could improve wildlife habitats around the Blackpool and the Fylde coast.

The report identifies the sand dunes in Fylde - which represent 90 per cent of Lancashire's remaining dunes - as vital to helping the region's wildlife.

It says: "Sand dunes are multiple systems that are vulnerable to increased disturbance and invasive plant species, as well as weather and sea conditions.

"Over the past 150 years, more than 80 per cent of the sand dunes in Lancashire have been lost."
