Coun Suleman Sarwar, who is cabinet member for climate change at the Labour run authority as well as representing the St Matthews ward where the factory is located, released a statement after the public inquiry.

He said: "The expected outcome of the Gafoor appeal will be deeply disappointing for many residents.
"This is not the outcome residents wanted. It shows what happens when rules are not enforced early enough or consistently.
