Ayrshire figures recognised in King's birthday honours

Community stalwarts across Ayrshire have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Five individuals from all over the region were selected after making achievements in public life and committing themselves to serving and helping Britain.

Two Ayrshire residents have been honoured with the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

Ayr's Dr William Mackie who is the chair of CentreStage in Kilmarnock and non-executive chair of Prestwick Airport has been awarded a CBE for services to education and the economy.

And the Isle of Arran’s Elaine Christina Lorimer, the chief executive of Revenue Scotland has been granted a CBE for public service.

Three people from Ayrshire have been awarded the honour of Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM).

Maybole’s Alexander Joseph Kelly has been given a BEM for services to the Voluntary Sector in South Ayrshire and Scotland.

imageAnd Kilmarnock woman Mary Donald Dumigan has been awarded a BEM for voluntary services to the community in the town.
