Work on Nigeen West Sports Field Stalled, Residents Raise Concerns

Residents of Nigeen West Nawabagh, Baghwanpora have urged the authorities to resume the stalled work on the only sports field in their locality, alleging that the project has been halted due to interference by vested interests, depriving local youth and children of a vital recreational facility.

Locals said the playground, which was being developed by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, had witnessed steady progress before the work was abruptly stopped without any official explanation. They said the delay has dashed the hopes of young sportspersons and disrupted sporting activities in the area.

"This is the only sports field in our locality," said Syed Ali, a school-going student. "Since the work has been stalled, many cricket teams are no longer willing to come and play here. We don't have any other place to practice or host matches. We appeal to the government to resume the work at the earliest."
