Launches Anti-Reservation Campaign
Peoples Conference (JKPC) President and MLA from Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, on Saturday launched a sharp critique of the National Conference (NC) over the recent Rajya Sabha elections, alleging that the outcome revealed a prearranged understanding between the NC and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He further announced that his party will campaign against the current reservation policy in the Union Territory.
Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar, Lone accused the NC of deliberately aiding the BJP to secure one of the four Rajya Sabha seats. “The extra votes that went to the BJP came from NC members themselves. Seven of their MLAs supported BJP—this was not cross-voting from others; they did it themselves,” he said.
He described the elections as a “fixed match” and said that the arithmetic of the vote clearly exposed the manipulation.
