Leadership for Women Managers Takes Centre Stage at KU's National Workshop

Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Monday underscored the expanding role of women in leadership positions, asserting that women are now stepping into spaces that were once out of reach.

She was speaking at the inaugural session of a three-day National Workshop on "Leadership Programme for Women Managers in Higher Education: Challenges, Opportunities and Strategies" at the University of Kashmir.

Organised jointly by the Centre for Women's Studies and Research (CWSR) and the Institute of Home Science, the workshop has drawn participants from universities and colleges across the country.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Minister Sakeena called for collective institutional efforts to create safe, respectful and empowering environments for women professionals. "Women's progress depends on spaces where they feel safe, heard and valued," she said, stressing that women must be recognised for their abilities, encouraged to lead and supported through responsive structures.
