Budgam By-Poll Must Be Seen Broadly: Rather

Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker and senior National Conference (NC) leader Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday said the party's defeat in the Budgam by-election must be understood within a broader political landscape, not as an isolated event. He maintained that the votes polled in favour of the winning PDP candidate were not exclusively PDP's own support base.
Speaking to reporters, Rather described the outcome as “unfortunate” and pressed for a thorough probe into alleged electoral malpractices, insisting that legal action should follow if any wrongdoing is established. “This should be investigated thoroughly, and legal action must be taken against whoever is involved,” he said.
