Billings: Spitfires were a little timid and lacked intent

SAM BILLINGS accused Kent Spitires of being too “timid” and ‘lacking fight’ as they lost consecutive Vitality Blast games this week.

At the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Kent lost by 34 runs to Sussex Sharks on Friday evening before they followed that up with a six-wicket defeat in Cardiff to Glamorgan on Sunday.

It leaves the Spitfires without a win in four games - including County Championship draws against Northamptonshire and Lancashire - before they were due to Sussex Sharks in the Blast again, but this time at Hove, on Wednesday evening - after the newspaper had gone to press.

The consecutive defeats dropped Kent to sixth in the Vitality Blast table and Billings admits that everything that could go wrong, did.

"The last two results have been really frustrating with them being two important games but you just have to draw a line under it," Billings said. "Really bad day at the office.
