Parole Board's ultimatum to Meehan
BRIAN Meehan was ordered to break off all links with John Gilligan and other serious criminals if he ever wants to be free, we can reveal.
It was one of the conditions imposed on him by the new Independent Parole Board before he was granted temporary release.
The only man convicted of the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin was back on the streets last week for another day of freedom. He spent it visiting family and friends around Dublin.
So far he has been released five times for a day as he serves out his life sentence in Shelton Abbey open prison, in Co Wicklow.
He was turned down for parole in November 2023 but is entitled to reapply again this month.
