Mateta wonder-goal leaves Liverpool needing just one more point to bring 20th league title to Anfield
PUT a cork in it at Anfield and stick that champagne back in the fridge.
One man's Bollinger is another man's Prosecco, but Liverpool's party will have to wait until Sunday. Careless Arsenal just about extended the title race another four days, but it's all over bar the sausage rolls and the vol-au-vents.
Now it falls to Tottenham to be the party stooges but Liverpool, who need only a point to settle all arguments, came perilously close to clinching the holy grail without kicking a ball last night.
Pegged back by Palace sub Jean-Philippe Mateta's late equaliser at the Emirates, the Gunners were grateful to escape with a point and no new injury concerns again of their Champions League test. Palace, who have their own trophy aspirations to address on Saturday, refused to come quietly.
Keeping your powder dry was once the preserve of Bonfire Night technicians trying to stop the rain from making the blue touchpaper soggy at the village firework display.
