Calf stranded on beach after it was abandoned by mum

A FIN whale that has become stranded on a beach is likely to die after being abandoned by its mum.

Volunteers from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue charity were called to Pentewan Sands near Mevagissey in St Austell Bay, England, at 7am yesterday after reports of a baby fin whale stuck in the shallows of the White River.

A team of 15 trained marine mammal medics, including two veterinary professionals, were deployed to the scene.
