Teachers 'unbelievably proud' of teenage Emmy winner Owen

DRAMA teacher Esther Morgan says Adolescence star Owen Cooper “shone” from the start and she is “unbelievably proud” of his historic Emmy win.

Owen, 15, became the youngest male to collect the award on Sunday - one of eight picked up by the British Netflix drama.

Esther, 42, said he first started at The Drama MOB two years before filming, adding: “He was brilliant, he really was brilliant. We noticed that as soon as he started.”

She set up the school in Manchester with Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien, 42, in 2013.

Owen joined their weekly classes for 18 months then started talking about doing TV work.

Esther said: “We have a casting agency attached to the drama school. We started putting him forward for different roles.
