Tariffs threat 'most serious challenge' to US relations

DONALD Trump's threat of tariffs represent “the most serious challenge to transatlantic economic relations in generations”, the Tanaiste has warned.

In a speech at the National Economic Dialogue at Dublin Castle, Simon Harris will insist the EU must remain steadfast in pursuing negotiations with the US and do everything possible to prevent the imposition of further tariffs which pose a threat to Irish businesses.

Later today the Tanaiste, who is also Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, will hold discussions with the EU's Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and receive an update on negotiations with the US.
