Presidential poll is pretty pointless

Sweet Mary and Joseph ...who's next?

ARE we all excited for November's presidential election with the race welcoming such household names as “Yer Man, Grey Haired Lad With Glasses” and “What's Her Face, ex-minister from Galway, or Maybe Mayo?

Yes, Ireland was rocked over the weekend when Mary Hanafin graciously announced she would allow her name to go forward. Remember, Mary? No, she didn't sadly pass away last year, that was Mary O'Rourke. And she wasn't already President, that's Mary Robinson you're thinking of. Nope! Not that one either, Mary Harney was yer wan from the Progressive Democrats (remember them?).

Mary Hanafin! Ex-TD for Dun Laoghaire Mary! Had a fair few rows with Fianna Fail leaders in her time, including Brian Cowen and Michael Martin. Yes, you can bet there's a lot of love for Mary at the top in Fianna Fail!
